British vs American English

For various reasons English has turned into an international language. Still, in each country the language spread to the language has acquired a different tone due to the contact with the local reality.

The USA is, however, a special case. The first continent to be colonised by the British, the language soon started changing according to the context. In some cases the language was simplified  (spelling), in others the locals kept the same old words the colonists brought with them. Yet, there were also a lot of new words (loan words) derived from the cultural encounters with other ethnic groups.

So we should be aware of those differences.
